More than four thousand activists with torches form a peace symbol on Heroes’ Square in central Budapest 18 March 2006 during a rally to demand the end of the US occupation of Iraq on the third anniversary of the US invasion. The peace symbol turned fifty years old April 4, 2008. Created by British graphic designer Gerald Holtom, the symbol made its debut at a 1958 ban-the-bomb protest in Britain.
